Why do we create?

We like to paint, write, tell stories, cook, build, we like creating something and calling it our own.

You’d think that we create things so our legacy can hold on, that the things we create can outlive us and hold our name with them.

But there is enjoyment in the craft itself, there is deep fulfilment in putting so much of ourselves into something until we feel it’s done.

Even if it doesn’t get much appreciation, even if no one will ever see it. Where it gets thrown in the drawer until it is dusted out of existence. It still meant something. That the thing we created will live as long as our memory and conscious go on.

And if our memories stay in the after life, then the things we create can live eternally with us, and we’ll be reminded of them when we flip through our books of the past.

So oh fellow human, do create, whether the world sees it or not, for it will always stay in your world, alive and at peace.
