When do you become truly selfless?
We see selflessness as a virtue. but who among us is truly selfless?
When you give something up for your fellow brother, do you keep the score? in the back of your mind are you waiting for him to pay you back? and even if not him, do you expect the world to reward you somehow for being virtues? and if you didn’t feel like you’ve got paid back, would you be consumed by anger? or would you be indifferent? could you be just happy for your fellow brother just because he is your brother?
I don’t know if you could be truly selfless. for even if you acted selflessly and expected to gain nothing in return, you have gained something. you’ve gained the feeling of being virtues and with that can come ego.
Maybe you can become selfless by viewing the world from an eyes other than your own. Where you experience the joy of another. Where you wish for your brother what you wish for you own and you’re all the same in either case.
